Our first concert is upon us this coming Thursday night (October 3, 2016)! Information regarding the uniform students wear was sent home and is on the band website and Facebook pages. It has been attached to this email as well as a picture of our 6th grade band from a previous fall concert showing students in the concert uniform.
The concert starts at 7 pm with students needing to be there by 630 pm for roll call. I would encourage you to be early. We usually have 600 plus people attending our concerts and parking becomes scarce. We would like to invite your extended family as well as all Veterans and current/former active duty, National Guard, and reserve military members as we will do a special musical salute for them. Student attendance is required as this concert is their final group project and it is worth 25% of their grade. Another quick item is that the last day to turn in extra credit is tomorrow (Wednesday) .
Other upcoming events for the band include two performances on Thursday 10 NOV. Both the 7th and 8th grade bands will play for the Veterans Day assembly at KMS. Later that afternoon the 8th grade band will travel to Gordon Elementary School to take part in their Veterans Day Assembly. Field trip paperwork for the 8th grade will come out shortly. For both concerts on Thursday the uniform will be our standard marching uniform of black pants, black marching shoes, black socks and red polo shirts. Students may bring a change of clothes but realize that time to change clothes for the 8th grade students going to Gordon will be limited. A suggestion would be just throw a hoodie on and change shoes for the school day.
It is going to be a great concert Thursday night! All the bands have made great progress and I am really excited for the 6th graders first concert! This concert has always been a crowd favorite as we salute the men and women who protect our country. We look forward to seeing you Thursday night!
