Now, details: below are the key responsibilities for each title, some straight from our bylaws.
President: preside at all meetings, be the liaison to the director and school officials, be the official organization spokesperson.
Vice-President: think substitute – preside at the meetings in the absence of the president, “assume temporary responsibility of one (1) vacant position until such time as it may be filled.”
Secretary: take minutes of the meetings, present minutes at the next meeting, handle correspondence (think firstname.lastname@example.org ), prepare newsletter, maintain contacts list.
Treasurer: maintain funds and the bank account, make deposits, maintain non-profit status and business license, report at meetings.
Trip Coordinator: head trip planning, report at meetings, work with the treasurer.
In addition to the five official voting executive members we have optional but extremely important other positions:

We have some firm deadlines coming up quickly for our Disney Trip! Our trip may be in danger if we do not meet these deadlines for students and chaperones.

Chaperones: Please get fingerprinted ASAP to chaperone this trip.
You MUST be fingerprinted at North Kitsap School District Office by appointment:
Fingerprinting needs to be done asap as it takes upwards of 3 weeks to get approval once fingerprints have been taken. Chaperones will not be allowed to go on our Disney trip if their fingerprints are not up to date and approved.
Students and Chaperones: Total of $500 nonrefundable airline deposits are due by March 7th.
Each student and chaperone account must have $500 in order to secure airline tickets. The deadline for this $500 in each account is March 7th.

If you have met the above criteria we are ready to purchase your airline tickets soon. Please reply to this email with your or your student’s full name as it should appear on the airline ticket

The next big event is the OMEA Solo & Ensemble contest that we are hosting here at KMS on Saturday 23 FEB. We have 305 entries representing over 500 students and about 200-300 parents/family members coming from South Kitsap, Mason County, Bainbridge Island and all points in between. We need help running the event.
We have 12 judges hired, Ted Brown Music will be here for repairs, and the Navy Band Northwest Woodwind Quintet will be performing a noontime concert in the library. We need to have parents help supervise as door guards for the adjudication rooms and supervisors for the aux gym/commons area, library, and setup/cleanup crews. It will be the largest musical event happening in Kitsap County that day.
[Here is] a digital copy of the JOB SIGNUP SHEETS I showed students in classes yesterday. Some students and parents have already signed up. These are the blank sheets so you can see what and where the need is. If you are able and willing please reply to me via email. Thanks!
An updated schedule of when students are playing is here KMS & KHS SCHEDULE 2019 . Students who help out will receive extra credit, and we will be feeding all parent and student helpers free pizza and snacks for lunch that day.

How has your summer been?
In the effort to get back on track for the 2018 – 2019 school year, please consider the following upcoming dates and activities:
We 09/05 6:00 – 7:00 pm – KMS Band Boosters meeting. Yes it is the first day of school; no that is not why we are meeting. Traditionally, we meet every first Wednesday of a school month. Everyone is welcome!
Mo 09/10 6:00 – 7:30 pm – Open House. We will have a table with informational flyers, sign-up sheets, sweatshirt orders. Please stop by! Ask us about volunteer opportunities: your support determines how much we can do for our budding musicians.
Tu 09/11 5:00 – 8:00 pm – KMS Cavalier Band (that’s your kiddos and families!) BBQ Info Night. Ted Brown Music will be in attendance, to give you an opportunity to purchase or rent an instrument.
We will leave it there for now, but expect a lot more fun and information in the months to come, from seasonal concerts to band trips and performances, domestically and abroad!

Executive Board meeting will start at 4:30pm
Next Week: Final Band Concert June 11th @7pm Student call time is 6:30pm
- DisneyTrip Students will wear their RED Disney Trip shirts. Please bring uniform polos to turn in to Danielle.
- All other students will wear their red polos to the last concert and turn them in at the end.
- We will be collecting red polo shirts at the concert starting at 6pm.
- 6th and 7th grade families: We will have order forms available for you to PURCHASE new band polos for next year. These would belong to your student and make a great memento of their band time or could be donated at the end of their time at KMS.
Beyond: Chaperone “Celebration of Success” hosted by Jeff Haag
