Portland is NEXT Wednesday!!
Arrive KMS at regular school start time. We’ll load buses and depart shortly after 8. Estimated return time is 9:30 p.m. Students will notify parents when we reach Silverdale for pick up at KMS.
This Friday Shauna will be at KMS collecting student lunch orders. If you’re student is absent that day please email their lunch order to Shauna or Sheila ASAP! We will be placing the order this weekend.
After the parade when the student has packed their instruments onto the buses and turned in their beret, Subway sandwiches will be ready for them. Options for sandwiches are: Turkey, Ham or Veggie.
NOTE: there will be NO STOP at fast food. Subway is replacing this stop. We are expecting heavy traffic leaving Portland and in hopes of arriving to KMS at our estimated time, we have switched to Subway.
Please pack 2 lunches/meals for Portland. Everyone will eat one from home lunch on the way down before the parade. Following the parade will be Subway. Then the second from home lunch on the way back.
Boosters will be providing snacks and water before and after the parade.
Portland Trip Cost is $30. If you attended Victoria, this is already paid. If this is your first trip, please send payment to:

Congratulations to the Kingston Middle School Cavalier Marching Corps for taking third place in the High School Division (as a middle school!) in the 2017 Victoria Day Parade in Victoria, British Columbia! Results
The KMS Marching Corps also took 1st place Band; 1st Place Flag Team; and First Place Drill Team at Bremerton’s Armed Forces Day Parade in the Junior High School/Middle School Division last Saturday morning. We have not heard the Poulsbo Viking Fest Parade results yet but the Marching Corps had a strong performance there as well on Saturday afternoon. I was very proud of all the students being on the road for three days representing the Kingston and NK Community well. This video is from the Parliament show Sunday afternoon in Victoria where we were the last band to perform. All bands have a five minute performance before the following day’s parade. Thanks again to all parent volunteers and North Kitsap School District and Community for helping to make some great memories for our kids!
A reminder that all students and chaperones bring your luggage tomorrow (Friday) to school. There are three practice rooms labeled by grade for students to pack their luggage in. During each class period students will do a little playing and then load their luggage on the truck. All students should bring a day bag/backpack to put their lunch/water/snacks and sweatshirts or light jackets in for Saturday.
Also tomorrow we have a pep assembly that we are playing in at the end of the day so students should be wearing school colors (red, black, silver) for shirts plus jeans. Students do not wear the red marching band polo on Friday.
Saturday morning all students arrive at KMS in uniform (black pants, black socks, black shoes, red polo shirt, white shirt for drummers and drum majors) and be ready for formation/roll call by 0745. The building will be open by 0700. Please be on time as we will do a quick rehearsal and need to depart by 0815.
Please make sure all proper student documentation is in order.
As it will be warming up as the weekend wears on I have advised the students to pack light but remain as hydrated as possible. Please help remind them of that. Please remember that cell phone plans are expensive overseas. Plan accordingly so unexpected charges do not pile up. A reminder that chaperones will collect cell phones at night and will charge them up for the students.
